Chook Me!

Is it okay to use feed store type poultry seed for wild birds?

I’m using Kaytee Ultimate Nut and Fruit Blend wild bird food on the ground (in a large tray) and have several species of birds eating it. But they are not eating the peanuts or dried fruit. I was wondering if it’s okay to get only the ingredients they like from our local farm supply store? I may save money that way too and not attract the ants that want the dried fruit that the birds leave. Thoughts?

  1. yea that would be fine. their the same ingredients. And usually its cheaper that way
  2. Using poultry seed is fine. The seed that is sold for wild birds is often of very poor quality anyway. Poultry seed will be much cleaner.
