How many would this cost?
K, I am still young (14) but I drew my "dream house" and hope to get something like this some day. I want a medium house with a porch( that is going to be light pink XD) and i'll have some people build that for me. On 8 acres. a duck/chicken coop where I will keep 4 chickens and 3 ducks) a pretty big pond where the ducks can swim, but not too big. and a dock a barn wth an attic and a fence around it for 6 goats and a place on top for the pigeons to sleep. :) the house will include rooms and nice funiture and stuff so keep that in mind Also i want 2 big dogs and a cat and a small caged pet (ex: hamster) How much would this all cost? How much monthly would I have to spend on food for the animals?

- Anywhere from $750,000 to $4.5 million Monthly upkeep: around $1,000
- A lot depends on where you are. My parents have six acres, 10 miles outside a smallish city (100K people) in North Carolina, backed up to a pond, and dad built a dock. I think it cost about $200,000. 20 miles from the city I live in (500K people), it would cost $250,000. If you were in New York, it would cost a lot more - maybe $400,000. And that's at current prices - in 15 years, it will probably go up 25% to $250K, $325K and $500K. Nice furniture - expect to spend $10,000, but you could easily spend more. A barn is another $20,000 or so. The chickens, ducks and goats could probably live off the land most of the year, if you're in the southern US. You have to watch out for predators, though. Based on what my parents spend for animal food, if you do have to buy feed for all of them, then everything but the goats and the dogs would cost about $100/week. I know a cat is about $10/week, and my folks have ducks, chickens and rabbits, though more than you're planning for. I think food for big dogs can be expensive - I would guess $30/week for each. Goats - well, they can eat kitchen scraps and ivy, but you should probably have some hay as backup - say $10/week for each, so a guess for dogs + goats is $120/week. It's probably low. Also - getting the animals can be expensive. Dogs can be free from the pound, or $1000 each from a kennel. Goats run from $50 each to $300, depending on what breed you want. Good luck - my parents have a place a lot like this, bought after dad was a college professor for 25 years, and they love it. They take a raft out on the pond and have picnics.
