What is the optimum tempature to remove a chicken from the grill?
I am going to grill a chicken (actually i'm going to cook it on a traeger) and would like to know what temp. I should remove it at so that it is not overcooked.

- You'll definitely want to make sure the chicken isn't undercooked! I'd suggest at the very least 150 degrees to 160 degrees to make sure any bacteria has been killed. Beyond that, it's your preference. If you are indeed cooking a whole chicken, do be careful, you may have heard that the thigh should reach about 170-180 degrees. However, by this point the breast will be dry and rubbery, something you'll want to avoid. According to this website I found, the chef suggests that you remove the chicken when the breast is about 160ish. You run a slight risk of contamination, but the meat will be tender and juicy, obviously there are trade-offs. In the end, it's really up to you. Also consider perhaps cutting the chicken into separate pieces, this way...it'll be easier for you to control the cooking. Best of luck and happy cooking! :D
