What to do when there is chicken pox and pregnancy?
My son broke out in a rash this weekend and we thought it was chicken pox but it wasn't. I'm 6 months pregnant and I had the chicken pox when I was a kid. I read somewhere that you can't be around anyone that has chicken pox, measles, or shingles. Is that true cause I've been hearing it is and hearing it isn't. I would like to know just in case he does come down with it during this pregnancy.

- If you had the chicken pox as a child then you don't really need to worry about it. I would ask my doctor, but I think he will tell you not to worry about it.
- If you have had chicken pox there is no need to worry, but you can call your doctor if you are really bothered.
- If you had the chicken pox when you were younger, you are probably immune. Since you are immune you should try and stay away as much as possible, since you can catch them more than once, but you should be safe to be around him somewhat. Call your OB if you are that worried and ask them. Best of luck :)
- Well, if you already had them... then there is no worries.... your baby won't be affected.....
- As long as you had your course of immunizations as a kid then you should be fine. The one dr's really worry about is rubella (German measles) as it can cause serious problems for the fetus if mum is not immunized. Chicken pox can't be caught twice so since you had it as a child you don't need to worry. xx
- altho its best to avoid any sort of infection wen pregnant, if u'v had chicken pox ur baby shld have immunity thru u. my kids had it wen i was 8mths and the baby was fine after. i wldnt worry too much but dont drop ur guard either cld i just stress that with chicken pox, the contagious time is wen u dont even know u have them. once the spots have all come up and crusted is wen the contagious time is over. and they come out in clusters over a few days. so generally its too late to stay away if ur child has them, as u wldnt know til the spots came
- I also have issues with my pregnancy . I posted my question on wish123 and got an answer from an expert who solved my problem. Highly recommend the website.
