Chook Me!

Do you have to use liquid in a slow cooker? Im making buffalo chicken wings-should I add H2O? If so, how much?

  1. yes it is a good idea, to keep the meat moist, i would add about a cup of water...
  2. 1 to 2 cups of water usually does it...or chicken broth
  3. No. The juices from the wings will do.
  4. 1/4 cup and add your sauce and you should be fine.
  5. I would add a small amount of chicken broth or beer! But no more than a quarter cup.
  6. Oh no. The chicken will exude it's own liquid, plus the 'buffalo' sauce you place in there will also thin a bit because of the natural juices in the chicken. You'll have plenty of liquid in there. When it's done, keep the crock pot on high with the lid off to let the sauce thicken for about an hour. No lie.
  7. Here is an example of a recipe for chicken wings in a slow cooker http://www.youchef.ca/recipe/show/Honey-Garlic-Chicken-Wings You'll notice that there is no water added, however there is 1 cup of honey and 1/2 cup of soy sauce. So while your wings don't need to be drenched, I think it is good to have some moisture in there. Maybe you already have that with your buffalo wing sauce?
