How do I keep a stable temperature in a Homemade Incubator?

I recently made an incubator after following some instructions I found online, so before I put anything in it I decided to test it, it seemed to be going well at first but hen I had a problem. The problem is that the temperature goes too high too fast and the humidity plummets when I turn it on. Does anyone know how I can keep the temperature and humidity stable?

1. its just a case of monitoring it as many times a possible. Although i have heard of people hatching eggs in a boiler rooms so maby it doesn't depend too much on humidity and Temperature.
