Chook Me!

How can I modify the following dishes to make them suitable for?

A child aged 12-24 months? - Shepard's Pie - Omelette - Chicken Casserole - Spaghetti Bolognese - Pizza - Macaroni Cheese - Beef Stew - Sweet and Sour Chicken - Chicken Kebabs in Pitta Packet and Salad Please and thanks! I have no idea! I have to do a Home Ec project where I have to modify these dishes and, like you said, I think they're fine already lol...so I have no idea what to write :D

  1. To be honest with you, all them foods are already suitable for a child of any agee.. just make sure its all cut up, not too spicy, not too salty :)
  2. Hi Always on,For a child of 12-24 months, I would make the dishes as you like them yourself depending on how you can cut them up for eating. As to things like pizza and kebabs though you have to be very careful about shop bought processed food as they contain very high amounts of salt Sugar and preservatives and they are possibly too young at that age to be eating such foods. However if you make them yourself and you add less salt etc. than you would use for yourself then as an occasional treat they should be alright. I would vary a small child's diet as much as possible to give them experience of as many different tastes and textures as you possibly can afford . Remember variety is the spice of life , and without preaching just go for what your instincts tell you will be good for them.I hope this helps .All the very best to you and yours.
  3. The only modifications I made for my toddler was to avoid hot spices in the portions I dished out for her and to chop some things a little coarser for her to pick up with her fingers -- and I never bought any prepared baby food at all.
