Chook Me!

3 reasons why??????????????

The Humane Slaughter Act states that all animals must be slaughtered humanely... (painlessly) except for poultry (chicken, turkeys, fish). Could someone give me 3 reasons why it would be ideal to include poultry in the act? Thanks. ^.^

  1. Um... fish... isn't 'poultry'. It's just fish. And fish feel no pain.
  2. Does the law say humanely or painlessly? I cannot think of a single reason.
  3. The same reasons that apply to the other animals...
  4. The Humane Slaughter Act regulates the slaughter of animals like cows and pigs because said animals are sentient beings. Chickens and turkeys, like cows and pigs, are sentient beings. Therefore, it is completely illogical to regulate the slaughter of cows and pigs, but not of chickens and turkeys. That's the only reason that's needed.
  5. Because although chickens may be considered stupid relative to us, we would be considered stupid relative to a race of aliens, does that mean it is ok to brutally slaughter us? In fact chickens are smarter than people think, they can perfectly regulate room temperature to suit them with the controls, that means they can learn patterns of behavior and how to use gadgets. Because birds and fish feel pain to. Because they are fellow living animals on this planet and we should respect that, if we kill and eat all the other animals then humans would be alone on the planet and we would never survive.
  6. yes.
  7. Chickens are our friends. Chickens enjoy a happy family life. Chickens work hard to improve their lifestyle.
  8. because birds feel pain and suffer like any other creature. Birds, rats and mice are also excluded from regulations under the Animal Welfare Act, which I might add is just as useless as a "Humane Slaughter Act". Chickens are said to be as smart or not smarter than pigs and dogs. Watch the dvd, Meet your Meat, that will give you all the reasons you need to answer your question.
