Chicken- Duck eggs?
Hi there! I am looking into doing a fun and educational project for my home, I want to hatch and raise chicks and ducklings. Last year, I had tried hatching chick eggs with my GQF Mini incubator ( i got the eggs off of ebay) but sadly none of the eggs hatched. They were fertile and the chicks were developing but i have no clue what happened...any ideas? How to prevent this from happening again? Also are there any farms on Long Island or NY that could help me out with getting eggs this year? Thanks!

- it's important that you keep the humidity right in your incubator. 2 much and you can actually drown your embryos. too little and they dry out and stick to inside off eggs.
- your best bet if to find proper breeder , because peope on ebay can often be crafty and they eggs may not have been propally fertile, you also need to make sure the incubatour at the right temp, to cold or to hot and they will die. i would read into this before you try it again, and also once the babies hatch you will need to pt them under a heated lamp, if you keep them in the icubator they'll die because it'll be to hot ad they need water
- buy the eggs from someone with bird experience. that way you know the eggs are fertile. make sure its not to humid in the incubator or you will drown the eggs but if it is to dry the eggs will dry out. also show someone with experience your incubator to see if it works right. when the babies hatch make sure to get a warm light to cover them. the reason the eggs did not hatch last year was probably because they were not incubated when the where traveling to you. good luck
- eggs off ebay? um. no. find a farm or a feed center close to where you live that sells duck/chicken eggs. and make sure u mark which is which. and do some research on hatching ducks/chickens. and espically research on raising/feeding/breeding ducks and chickens. its best to know the info before you do it. also, make sure you have the space/time/money to raise chickens/ducks. they definately take a lot of work! espically ducks!
