Tips on grilling chicken breasts?
Ok, please don't laugh...but I have never cooked chicken on the grill. I bought two really nice chicken breasts at the butcher today and would like to make them for dinner. So how do I do it? I know how to use the grill and everything, it's a Weber Genesis gas grill, I just need to know how long to cook them and at what heat. Also should I pound them down a little so they're the same thickness? Any tips you all have would be great!

- just heat up the grill to normal heat. marinate or season the chicken as desired. place a layer of foil on top of the grill and the chicken on top of that. leave them on the grill for about 5 minutes then flip them. check them regularily and they are done when there is no pink-ish colour in the chicken. so i guess... bon apitite? lol
- Sweet BBQ Chicken Chicken breasts are brushed with a mix of apple butter, ketchup, honey, & seasonings, grilled, and topped with cheese & grilled onion slices. Ingredients: 6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts 3 cloves of garlic, minced 1/4 cup olive oil Juice of 2 oranges 1/2 cup apple butter 1/2 cup ketchup 2 Tbsp honey 1/2 cup brown sugar 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/2 tsp hot sauce, or to taste 6 slices cheese 2 large white onions, cut into 1/2" slices, kept together Method In a large shallow dish place chicken, garlic, oil and juice of oranges; refrigerate until ready to cook. In a small saucepan on low heat combine apple butter, ketchup, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire, pepper, garlic powder, mustard and hot sauce. Cook 8-10 minutes until sauce thickens. Lift chicken from marinade. Cook chicken on grill or in broiler about 6 minutes per side until just about done. Brush generously with sauce and cook an additional 2 minutes per side or until cooked through; top with a slice of cheese. Brush onions with sauce and grill about 3 minutes per side until they start to caramelize. When cheese is melted, remove chicken and top with onion slices.
- • Marinate poultry pieces 30 to 60 minutes. • If using tomato-based BBQ sauce, brush on during last 5 minutes of cooking to prevent burning the sauce. • Grill chicken over direct medium heat. • An internal temperature for breast meat of 170° F and 180° F for legs and thighs is preferred. • Estimate about 7 minutes per side for boneless breasts, bone-in legs about 20 minutes per side.
- Firstly make sure the fillets are even THICKNESS, this is so important for even cooking. Brush olive oil with cracked black pepper and sea salt onto BOTH sides. take 7 minutes top on a high heat. let rest a minute, so juices so flowing too.
- Skinless chicken tin to dry out on the grill if you cook them to long. The way I do mine is I get my grill hot on high , then I sear them. That will hold the juices in. Then I turn the grill on low and finish cooking them. I just let them cook for about 15 min. on each side then take a fork and stick it to see if any blood comes out. If not they need a little more cooking . But watch close so you don't over cook.
