What are the parts of chicken wings called?
I want to submit a recipe for chicken wings to a recipe website, but I don't know what the parts are called. I want to describe that you buy a big package of wings, cut them in the 3 parts and dispose of the small tip parts, keeping the other 2 parts. Can anybody tell me how to appropriately describe these parts?

- The wing tip is the end. The wingette is the next part and the drumette is the part closest to the shoulder
- I don't know if they have "real" names, but "small tip parts" works for me: I know exactly what you mean. Check other cook books and see if they use a different expression.
- drummette, tip, and flat
- The part of the wing that comes directly off the bird is commonly referred to as the 'drumette' and has one bigger bone like a drumstick or chicken leg (called the humerus) and the part attached to it that has two bones (radius and ulna) in it, is commonly called the 'wing' , and the little funky part on the end is commonly called, 'the wing tip', and there is no name for it that I know of.. always called 'wing tip' in biology classes anyway. It took me a little bit of time, but I found a website that will really be a good resource for you to see what I mean.. So, in your recipe.. dump the wing tips, and you can leave the rest of the wing whole in both parts of the wing joint, or you can at your own choice.. cut at the joint and have two pieces of wings. http://www.classjump.com/jwhite/documents/3067219914.pdf Good Luck and happy eating!
