What was going through peoples' mind's when they thought of the beer chicken?

Call it what your will, drunken chicken, chicken on a throne,beer can chicken... Where did it originate from? What possesed their mind to do such a thing? Where did it come from I talking about putting a beer can up a chickens rear (beer butt chicken). The have an open can, shove it inside the chicken's rear and have the whole thing standing on the can on the grill while its cooked. I'm not trying to offend anyone but a lot of people in the south has heard of it. I'm just like 'how the whole idea of that sprung up?' lol

2. I'm thinking some Cajun down here in south La. got so drunk they accidentally put the beer can on the grill and the combination of the chicken caused this phenomenon. Well I'm still absorbing (no pun intended) the idea of a fried turkey. Love to eat it but to put a whole turkey in deep fried grease, let alone chicken.
3. Dude think about it.. Chicken is amazingly good, so is beer. Mix them together.. ITS DELICIOUS! i doubt you've tried it..its not like you're gunna get waisted from eating beer chicken.. the taste is good so thats why.
4. Putting a beer can inside a chicken keeps its incredibly moist, Im sure whoever thought of it was trying to find a way to keep moisture inside the chicken, you dont get drunk off of it or anything, cooking with beer keeps meats very tender and moist, I make some killer ribs cooked in beer
