help with my chicken coop door?

i am building chicken coop in my barn, it went well except for the door. i didnt relize that the 4x4 that holds up the barn was twisted, thats what i need to attach the door to. so after careful measuring the door will not fit because of the twisted 4x4, any suggestions on what i can do.i am not a carpeter, but i have build small cages before. help!

1. take a straight 2x4 and attach it to the twisted 4 x 4 - use long screws because it will gap a bit in the twisted places but you will have a straight line to attach the door to the chickens won't care about the gaps - it will only bother you and if you don't like it that bad you can over lay the post with any thing you choose to cover it up
