What can 2 week old chicks have for treats?
I just bought two 2 week old chicks. So far they have only had the feed from the breeder, and I'm wondering what they can have for treats. Also, any tips on how to tell whether they are male or female? Thank you. They are chicken chicks.

- What kind of chicks? If you are talking about any kind of parrot, Budgie, Cockatiel, etc., then they can't have anything but formula and what the parents are feeding. If you are talking about ducks or chickens, then they should only have regular feed, not treats.
- There isn't much they can have that young but NEVER feed them corn that early in life it will clog up their body and they can die. Also there is no definite ways to tell if a chicken is male or female when they are that young. It depends on what breed they are but, its sometimes it works that rosters combs are redder than a hens.
- If they chicken chicks they will do good on layer pellets. If confined off grass you could let them loose outdoors just before dark so they will be easy to catch as it gets dark. They will find the needed grits for their gizzard and love grass, bug and worms. They will like little pieces of fruits and veggie scraps at any age. I would throw a handful [on the ground] of wild bird seed mix and whistle. They would come to my whistle. Males may show a tiny bump as spurs start to grow, have a redder comb and wattles and be a bit bigger then the females.
