Is it ok to test the incubator using an unfertile egg?

I put an unfertile egg in there to test it for tonight and tomorrow. Thats ok right? It won't explode if it gets too hot,right?

1. Yeah it's ok, just not for too long, it won't necessarily explode but it might end up hard boiled. Be careful though, I once exploded a thermometer in my incubator and made a terrible mess!
2. Its safe to test your incubator in this manner. Rest assure, the egg won't explode. -- PA
