Chook Me!

Can I use a 250W heat light for bearded dragon?

At rural king they sale 10" heat lamps and lights for 1.99, but they're 250W. I'm heating a 50 gallon tank (4ft long) and it'll be at least 2ft away from basking. While this heat my tank to proper temperature without overheating? 1. id say 250 is a bit too much,go with the 125.i am using a 150 for my 90 gallon beardie tank.
  2. I would go with the 125w. 250w will probably be way too much. But at that price, it doesn't hurt to get one of each and just see which one gives better results. I use a 100w in a 55g. In the winter, I have to add a 40w to the cool side to get it to stay around 80, but otherwise, it is just right.
