What stores sell Chick Starter Feed (or Chick Crumbles)?
We have chicks! Sweet, little, soft chicks! We hatched them from the egg in a incubator. We were given a bag of feed also. But the chick eat a ton of food! We gave them the last bit of food this morning and we need more! I have looked online and found some Chick Starter Feed Crumbles for sale but they will take 3-5 days to ship and we need more food now! Does anyone know of any stores that sell Chick Feed? At this point I don't care if it is medicated or not! I just really care that it is the crumble kind. Please help!

- They sell some at Kent feed Stores or talk to your local co-op about it. They probably have something.
- I hope you realize that feeding some chicks medicated chick starter can kill them, depending on what vaccinations they were given, right? Anyways, your local farm & home, feed store, or co-op should have something. Tractor Supply carries chick starters.
- You can feed them Poultry pellets crushed as a temporary food supply.
- Tractor Supply Co sells chick feed and they are located everywhere. Where did you buy your incubator? They most likely sell the feed you need there. Some pet stores sell chick feed, especially this time of year since its the busiest for chicken farmers. If I knew where you lived I might be able to help you out a little better. Good Luck!
- Orscheln's. This is where we get our feed. See if there is a location near you. http://www.orschelnfarmhome.com/
- As a temporary fix you could get regular poultry pellets you can grind them down in size to make your own crumbles. The chick crumbles are specially designed for little 'uns and are really high in protein so these are definitely best but if you are going to use regular pellets just until your crubles arrive try and get growers pellets rather than layers pellets as the growers are higher in protein. You can also give them crumbled up boiled egg and live plain yogurt is also really good for getting the good bacteria in their guts going and according to Katie Thear's book - Incubation - Aguide to hatching and Rearing this can protect against Salmonella bacteria in the gut When mine first hatch I give them eggs and yogurt for the first couple of days then switch to crumbles...they still get an egg once a week until they are fully feathered...just because they like it so much and I love spoiling them!
