What size chicken for 6 to 8 people?

I'm having some people over for dinner on Saturday and I'm planning on roasting a chicken. I'm having 6 to 8 people, and there will be other food: an appetizer, a big salad, green bean casserole, stuffing and dessert. What size chicken should I buy? Also, my boyfriend's dad is visiting us on Sunday so I would like to have some leftovers, but it's not a must. Yeah, I'm looking for a weight.

4. chickens don't get to 10-12 pounds after butcher weight ever. thats a small turkey. An average roasting chicken weighs about 3-5 pounds so you would need 2 for that many people. Think, 1 chicken yields 2 drumsticks, 2 thighs and 2 breast portions. Not counting the wings that means only 6 people would get a piece of chicken and your other guests would end up nibbling on the bones and there would not be any left overs for the next day. You need 2 roasting hens or switch it up to a small turkey.
