pre cooking chicken wings for tailgating?
Hello, so I'm tailgating tomorrow (Dolphins vs Bears) and i got alot of chicken wings. Almost 5 pounds i think. Anyways I wanna somewhat precook them in the oven so it dosent take forever when i'm there. My question is ,should i marinate them before i precook them or marinate them after precooking( or even both)? Also how long and what temperature should i precook them for?I'm going to throw them on a standard smokey joe grill w/ charcoal. . Thanks (best answer gets 5 stars)

- 375 for about an hour marinate first
- You don't want to "somewhat" precook them. If you bring them to an internal temperature of, say, 100 degrees, you will just make them a hotbed of bacteria growth. You want to precook them to an internal temperature of 160-170 degrees. Since you can dry them out by double cooking them, I would marinate them first and then cover them in the marinate again before putting them on the grill.
- Marinate before, bake at 325 degrees in the oven for 45 minutes (check after 30 min, should be an internal temp of about 170 - 180 degrees). Throws those puppies on the grill, add sauce (if any) within the last 5 min of cooking. btw: I prefer a dry rub on the chicken as opposed to marinating it, then I brush on BBQ sauce during the last 5 min of cooking (as stated above).
