What is the right season to have chicks?
We are going to let our chickens start having chicks. But we don't know what season (fall, winter, spring, or summer) to let them have chicks.

- Summer or early Fall is a good time dont do it in winter you dont want the eggs to freeze
- early fall :D
- In the spring.
- Are your chickens trying to set in the winter? Mine will only set at the "right" time for chicks to hatch, but perhaps different breeds have different internal schedules. I wouldn't let them set in the winter unless you were prepared to brood them yourself.
- Your chickens will probably start to set when they know it's the right time of year. But if you have cold weather through April, you should start letting them set in mid-late April. Early summer is a great time to raise chicks, but I wouldn't recommend hatching them in fall, because the bigger they get and the more fat they get on their bodies (not to mention, the more acclimated they become in the flock of adults) the warmer they'll stay in the winter. If your winters aren't cold, any time from spring to fall is a great time. Good luck!
