What did the Dixie Chicks say to make every one mad? I remember when every one got mad at them a long time ago but I can't remember what it was. Thanks!

1. At there London Concert in 2003 lead singer natalie maines said she was "ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

During a London concert ten days before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, lead vocalist Natalie Maines said, "we don't want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas" (the Dixie Chicks' home state). Some Americans thought that was unpatriotic, and the girls lost a lot of their audience in the US, plus they got a lot of hate mail and death threats. And there were public events where people burned their albums. But the Dixie Chicks fought back, doing TV interviews to explain their position. Even president Bush said they had a right to express their opinion whether it agreed with his or not. By March of 2006 they had regained their popularity and they released a song titled "Not Ready to Make Nice" in which they reiterated their right to their opinion.
