I am going to make BBQ chicken today. Can any one give me some ideas on what side I should make. I don't want any rice. All suggestions are welcome.

- fried plantains go well.
- coleslaw and potato salad. or mash and peas and corn.
- Dr. Pepper Baked Beans 28 ounce can pork and beans 1 onion, chopped fine 1 green pepper, chopped fine 1 tomato, chopped fine 1/2 cup dark brown sugar 1/3 cup Dr. Pepper 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves Preheat oven to 350F. Bake, covered, 30 minutes. Serves 4 to 6. ___________________ Pistachio Dream Salad 1 envelope D-Zerta Whipped Topping (use low-fat milk instead of water) 1 small can Mandarin oranges (in own juice, drained) 1 small can pineapple (in own juice, drained) 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese 1/2 cup coconut (unsweetened) 1 small box pistachio pudding (sugar-free) Whip topping according to directions using the low-fat milk. Add all other ingredients. Sprinkle dry pudding into topping mixture and mix with mixer just long enough to combine ingredients. Sprinkle with chopped pecans (optional.) lol *
- Roasted Garlic Potatoes are a good side, especially if they're made on the grill right next to the chicken. take about 25 small red potatoes and cut them into 8 pieces. mince up about 3 cloves of garlic and toss all of it together with a little salt and pepper. wrap it all up in aluminum foil and cook it on the grill until the potatoes are fork tender.
- Cube up a couple potatoes. Put in a tightly sealed aluminum foil packet with, 1/2 stick margerine , cubed 1 small onion chopped 1/2 green bell pepper. pinch of black pepper. Cook on the side in the grill while cooking the chicken. They will be done when you can squeeze through the foil and smash a potato piece. They can be started ahead of the chicken also, to finish together.
- Sweet Potato Fries Extra-virgin olive oil, for lightly coating 6 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced like steak fries 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1/4 packet taco seasoning mix Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, drizzle oil over the potatoes and toss to coat. Add salt and taco seasoning mix and toss. Place sweet potato fries in one even layer onto a baking sheet. Keep space between them so they get crispy on all sides. Bake in batches. Place into the oven for 10 minutes, then flip them over. Place back in for 10 more minutes. They should be soft on the inside and browned on the outside. Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving. * You may substitute baking potatoes for sweet potatoes. However, when placing back into the oven change cooking time to 5 minutes instead of 10.
- Do you like pea salad? 1 bag frzn thawed swt peas or 2 cans grn peas; either will do. 2 hard boiled eggs(chopped) 1 small jar pimentos 1/3 cup finely chopped onion 3 tblspoons mayo 1/8 tsp of ea. pepper, salt, garlic powder Mix all ingredients together in the mixg.bowl & refrigerate for at least an hr. This is a lot easier than a potatoe salad. If you need a garnish, save 1/2 of one of the boiled eggs & put thin slices of egg on top of salad.
- macaroni and cheese and green beans would go nicely
- In a non stick pan melt 1 tbsp. of butter and let it melt on low heat. Then add 1 box of frozen shoepeg corn, 1/2 c. of milk (any but skim will work), and about 1 tsp. each salt and pepper. Let this simmer about 7 - 10 minutes. It's so good.
- Hashbrown Potato Casserole 2 pounds. frozen hashbrowns potatoes, thawed 10 oz pkg cheddar cheese, grated 8 oz. sourcream 1 can cream of celery 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1/2 stick butter, melted Mix all other ingredients together. Put in lightly greased casserole. Bake at 350' for 45-55 minutes. I'm sorry I dont have exact measurements. Bake Beans 4 or 5 cans of campbells pork and beans, drain a few of the beans, then add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, chopped onion, karo syrup, and lil smokies and bake them in the oven for 35-45 minutes at 350'. Talk about delicious. I sometimes use beef smoked sausage or kielbasa pieces instead of the lil smokies. =0)
