Rags to Riches There was once a poor man named Carlo. He sells fishes in the market. He earns a lot from selling those fishes. But one day, news spread that there was red tide. Nobody bought his fishes for people were afraid to catch diseases. Carlo quit selling fishes. In just a few month’s time, all his earnings went to their expenses like bills, food, and transportation. “What could I sell now in the market? Nothing was left from what I earned in selling fishes” Carlo asked his brother. “Poultry, vegetables, fruits, pork, cattle” the brother suggested. “I’ll go with selling fruits and vegetables” Carlo said. He began to sell fruits and vegetables but a thunderstorm hit and many crops were damaged. The number of crops dwindled. All the people selling fruits and vegetables in the market were receiving very low earnings per day and soon they decided to quit selling farm crops. “I quit selling in the market” Carlo said. “How will you earn money now?” his brother asked. “Let’s establish a garage sale” Carlo said. They sold their old shirts, shoes, books, appliances, etc. Carlo had very few customers and many of his customers just wanted to see what he sells. “I’m so unlucky in selling things, when will I stop experiencing poverty?” Carlo said. “Don’t give up, someday I’m sure we’ll be rich” the brother said. Carlo followed his advice and continued his garage sale even when he has only less than ten customers every day. The day came that nobody bought from the garage sale and Carlo closed the garage sale.“You told me we’ll be rich someday, but what I’ve earned isn’t enough for us” Carlo said. “You should be thankful, some people don’t have a single coin in their pockets” the brother said. They had financial problems because they don’t have sufficient money that will provide them with all their needs. A week later, Carlo wasn’t able to pay their electric bill so their electricity was disconnected, also he doesn’t have enough food for him. “Being poor is a curse, there’s nothing to eat and there’s no electricity” Carlo said. “Don’t complain, we have a candle and good neighbors who are willing to share their food to us” the brother said.”I wouldn’t enjoy life for as long as I’m penniless” Carlo said. A few days later, a destructive tornado destroyed many houses in Carlo’s place. Many families were left homeless. “What’s worse to come after a tornado damaged our house and all our possessions?” Carlo asked. “Don’t say that, just be positive and everything will be alright” the brother said. “We’re moving to your uncle and grandparents’ house” their mother called out to them. They packed up all of their properties and lived with their uncle and grandparents. A month later, their beloved grandmother became ill and needed to be taken to the hospital. Their uncle and grandpa needed more money to cure their grandma so he asked from Carlo’s family. Carlo and his family were forced to give some money cause they loved grandma very much. “I’m losing hope” Carlo said. “We can work together and earn money” his mother said. Carlo worked as a waiter in a five star restaurant, while his mother worked as a maid. Carlo was earning a lot as a waiter when a group of men hostaged the fancy restaurant. Half of what he earned was taken from him and the hostage takers took money from the employees and customers. The mother unfortunately, worked for a cruel family. The family makes her work a lot even when she’s tired and never pays her for her services. She managed to escape from them and goes home. “I’m so angry at the hostage takers, they took what I worked hard for” Carlo said. “It’s unfair, why was I so hapless and worked for an evil family when there are many kind-hearted families I could work for and pay me a large amount of money?” the mother said. “Stop agonizing about your mishaps in trying to earn money, we can join a talent contest and win” the brother said while handling them a flyer. “This could be our most awaited moment, we could win millions of cash if we win first place in this talent contest” Carlo said. “We’re gifted singers and dancers so it’s our time to shine and show the world our skills” the brother said. They paired up and joined the contest and they rehearsed very well for their song and dance number. They won first place in the contest for they got the most votes among all the contestants who joined. They received a check for millions of cash and they were rich. “I can’t believe it, we’re finally rich after all those failed attempts” Carlo said. “You just need to believe in fortune and soon you’ll be rich” the brother said. They bought a mansion and they became wealthy.

1. Great story, very believable with the recession too. It is like the song The Climb by Miley Cyrus. Keep your faith. This was a great story.
