Poultry or poultry and Rice ONLY cat food? Does it exist anymore?
I have a cat who has an extremely sensitive stomach, and has for years eaten California Natural chicken and rice cat food, and it has long been the only thing he can not vomit back up repeatedly. Now, the company who makes that food sold out, and the formula is changing (my pet supply store owner tells me this), and I really need to find another cat food that ONLY contains Chicken and Rice, or JUST chicken (plus the required vitamins/minerals, of course). All the foods I have looked into have things like rosemary, and blueberries, and tomato, and fish, and yucca, and cranberries, and tons of other things that make him really really sick all the time. Do you know of ANY commercial cat food that has only meat (preferably chicken, but other poultry is ok, he cannot eat ANY fish) and rice or possibly meat and another easy to digest grain (oat? barley?) (he also can't eat corn at all)? I know I could feed him home cooked, or raw, and I do feed him actual chicken sometimes (raw and cooked, though lately only cooked, and only 1/8th a cup at a time, or he pukes it back up - I have been trying to change his food, rather unsuccessfully), but he really demands "crunchies" as we call them, dry kibble cat food. Any suggestions? I am considering trying to figure out how to BAKE my own KIBBLES for him! Help? Here are the ingredients of the only food he could hold down: Chicken, Chicken Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Chicken Fat, Sunflower Oil, Flaxseed, Taurine, Natural Flavors and Vitamins/Minerals. (that was ALL that was in it - NOW they added ROSEMARY, resulting in cat puking everywhere, and my dealer says it will only get worse as they cut more corners!) Anyone know of anything comparable in ingredients, or know how to make home-made crunchy KIBBLE? Do you know of a supplement mix that you can add to chicken (no bones, no organ meat) and rice to make it complete and balanced for a cat? He is elderly, but has no known chronic conditions, and he has had this sensitivity for many many years (I do not think he is sick, he seems happy and healthy other than vomiting his food, and has a history of not being able to eat other brands of foods).

- People do this all the time, it's a little extreme though but they cook their cats meals. Maybe you could cook your cat some chicken and sprinkle it with vitamin powder (just chicken won't give them the supplements they need).
- depands on where you live if you live in usa then go to price shoper or walmart
- Try Blue Buffalo cat food no preservatives, all natural they even have a website you can go to so you can compare other foods to theirs I know there is no grain in the cat food corn by products. Sometimes at the bigger pet stores they have samples you can get for free to try it. The only bad thing about your cat food company not selling their cat food anymore is you have to gradually change your pets food it can cause stomach upset if you do not. If you have a vet call and ask them what to do about that. Even if you try another cat food your cat will get a upset stomach at first. In other words you should keep feeding him or her the food you started her on and gradually introduce small amounts of the new food. Here is a article down below how to gradually change her food. I have a book from a vet called Dog and cat care the natural way, Natural pet cures by DR John Heinerman and he has this recipe for cats that get diarrhea this is for cats to get the good bacteria they loose from changing their food fast. Just in case it happens he says you get a apple and chop it up let it sit for 5 hours outside of refrigerator until brown then get Kyo-Dophilus at GNC if you have one near you take two capsules and empty them out in the apple and feed twice a day. Kyo-Dophilus is a probiotic it will put back the good bacteria that cats sometimes loose by antibiotics and changing their food to fast. a lot of times when cats get diarrhea it is because of them having no good bacteria in their intestines. Did you know that 90% of our immune systems and those of cats and dogs are in our intestines? And without the good bacteria we get sick from not having it.
- Here is one: Merrick Before Grain (BG) Chicken. It is only chicken, chicken broth, dried egg & the vitamins, minerals etc. http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/detail.php?c=114&s=20479 They also have one that is Turkey and one that is Quail + Chicken. Here is a company that has a supplement to add to raw muscle meat. TC Feline. (this is what used to be Feline Future) http://www.tcfeline.com/ Wysong also has a supplement "Call of the Wild" that you can add to muscle meat http://www.wysong.net/products/cotw-dog-cat-supplement.php And if he likes one of those and you want to totally make your own , there is a vet's website http://catinfo.org where she gives her recipe for homemade cat food There's also a commercial raw frozen cat food with no veggies, Feline's Pride.
