Can I hatch chicks without an incubator?
Hello! My mother raises chickens as pets and for their eggs. For mothers day I want to buy her a rare breed I think she would enjoy. I cant find them for sale already hatched though, only eggs ready to be incubated. I dont want to buy an expensive incubator to use once, any ideas?

- Check locally for someone who already has an incubator, and ask if they will include another egg for you and hatch the chick with their next batch. Trying to incubate and hatch an egg on your own will likely only end in disappointment as eggs require a certain level of moisture, heat and regular turning. Alternately, if the egg is similar to the eggs that your mother's chickens lay, maybe you can just give your mother the egg and let her chickens hatch it. :)
- go on line to Murray Mcmurray! they have a Huge selection of preborn, day old chicks! http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/
