question: what kind/breed is this chicken?

can someone tell me what kind/breed is this chicken? found a chicken yesterday cats were chasing her so we took her home... since no one is claiming her i decided to keep her and im getting all the stuff at home depot to build a small chicken coop for her... does anyone know what kind of breed is this chicken and is it ok to get another one but diff breed and put them together... or should i get a baby ones (chicks) thanks! http://i51.tinypic.com/jauyro.jpg http://i51.tinypic.com/akzhx1.jpg

1. You are so lucky!! That is definitely a Silver Phoenix Hen! They are really hard to find for sale! I can't say how lucky you are! Research the name. It looks exactly like that. There is 15% that it could be a Game Hen, but I wouldn't think that. Contact me on theblackegg.contact@gmail.com to tell me how she's going once you're done with the chicken coop.
2. I'm not sure if she's a Silver Phoenix... According to Google Images Silver Phoenixs don't have feathers on their legs/feet. She may be a cross breed. Sorry I don't know what she could be crossed with if she is. It takes mostly the appearance of a Game Hen, but Game Hens don't have feathers on their legs/feet either, which is why I think she's a cross breed. I wouldn't get chicks unless you want to raise them separately. You can get another hen if you want to. They may fight a little bit and pick on each other until they get used to the new company. You could put a male with her too, although there might be greater chances of fighting and he may end up breeding her too much or maybe even kill her. Best bet if you want her to have a friend is to get another female around her age, or at least her size. Hope this helps!
