How to put this in a letter/contract?
Okay, first off, i live in a small town, we recently had this law or something passed where we can't have chickens inside city limits, but my neighbor had her chickens before it was passed, she has to go to a hearing about whether she can keep them or not. She has a chicken coop built for them, with a fence around it, and fishing wire around the top of it, except for one part, and so the chickens are able to fly in and out of the fence as they please, But the problem i am having is, my husband and i just planted our vegetable garden, and flower garden a couple of weeks ago, and the chickens have been coming into our yard and digging everything up. We have told her many times that if the chickens come into our yard again that we are either going to cook them and have a good chicken dinner, or are going to call animal control, and have them removed off the property. So it leads me to my question, how is the best way to tell her on paper, that she needs to keep the chickens on her own property. Because I don't want to call animal control and her tell them that we didn't give her fair warning, or that we didn't tell her that we were having problems with the chickens. So please somebody help me with this, thank you in advance lol i know i can't legally kill them or cook them for dinner, but it was mostly a threat to mean that we were serious about getting rid of the chickens, and i will be delivering the letter today, and having her sign it saying that she received it. in case we were to have to go to court over this.

- Dear neighbor, This letter is to inform you that your chickens continue to get into my vegetable garden and you have continued to fail to rectify the situation. To paraphrase a well-known maxim of American legal philosophy, your right to own chickens ends when it interferes with my right to not have them destroy my garden. Please be advised that I have visited Petfinder.com and found a border collie for adoption in our area. I will be bringing my new friend home on Thursday. These dogs are extremely intelligent, extremely quick, focused and never run out of energy. If any of your chickens are dumb enough to come into my yard again, I guarantee you my new friend will destroy them. Do with this information what you will. I care nothing for the lives of chickens. They are so unintelligent that they can barely be considered sentient life. If my dog happens to kill some as part of doing his job protecting the property, their lives will rest entirely on your conscience. Plan accordingly. Sincerely, Neighbor (by the way, you already did call animal control, right? Because if you've made multiple complaints about her chickens she'll have a hard time calling them to complain when they start dying.)
- If the chickens come onto your property, you can cage them and call animal control. You cannot kill them. There is no need for any sort of formal warning before calling animal control, they can be called on the first instance.
- To: her her address city, state and zip From: your married couple name your address city, state and zip Dear Ms. (chicken owner), It is coming to our attention that the chickens you are raising are regularly coming onto our property and causing damage to our garden. (list damage to garden crops here) Currently, the chickens are not being restrained from coming onto our property in any way and the damage is occurring. We request that you restrain these chickens via any prudent means to prevent further destruction of our property, which if it continues could lead to legal action by animal control and/or a possible civil suit. Thank you for your concern in this matter. Sincerely, Mr. and Mrs. (your first names and married last name) Edit: I'd send the letter today. And the other poster is correct, they can't be dinner unless the neighbor invites you.
