Breeding a snake and letting her incubate the eggs?

I only hear about people using incubators. Does the snake incubating them herself really lower the hatching results that much?

  1. Do an experiment and see if it works. Take half of the batch and incubate it, then next time you will or will not have to get one. Sorry I can't be solid. It depends on the breed too so...
  2. Only pythons incubate their own eggs. Other snakes will not. And yes, you're better off placing them in an incubator because in order to have a good hatch rate using maternal incubation, everything must be perfect. It is much easier to control the temperature and humidity using an incubator.
  3. incubators allow much better environment control plus when they lay there eggs if you can remove them before the eggs "clutch" into a cluster. when the eggs are not attached to each other it helps prevent mold growth, having one bad egg ruin the rest and more. Just remember a controlled environment must be controlled and precisely.
