How to grill chicken?

We have a propane grill. I plan to marinade the chicken breasts in honey terryaki sauce. We've never grilled chicken on the barbecue - any tips?

  1. Remove the feathers first.
  2. YES!!! Grill them on medium heat, if you've never grilled it before. Especially with the honey teriyaki, you don't want to burn it. Although this might take longer, still cook it medium. Should take around 10 minutes per side. Don't keep flipping it, only a couple times should be fine. ALSO!!! Let the chicken rest for about 10 minutes after coming off the grill to cut it. This way the meat will distribute the juices throughout.

  4. Cook it on medium high for about 4 minutes each side, and then on a lower heat until done. You could par cook them first if you wished.
  5. Grill a chicken. Naked light bulb, rubber hose, good cop, bad cop. Seriously just make sure it is done well.
  6. lol to the first guy, but i would cook the chicken in the oven half way first because if you put that sugar coated sauce on there that chicken is going to so burnt and taste like shhhh...me personally would cook half way in oven the grill the rest of the way and basting chicken with sauce with brush..everytime you flip the chicken baste it again and also grill some pineapple with the chicken
  7. Your sauce is a nice choice, Actually I sometimes use plum sauce but I think the sauce goes on last and after your chicken has reached an internal temp of 170f or above. Without a thermometer you maybe cut cut it open and make sure there is NO red blood. I haven't marinated chicken but I found some sauces tend to burn on the skin , so I put in on during the last 2 or 3 minutes . Bonn appeti
  8. Your honey won't burn as easily as a sugar based sauce Try to cook the away from direct heat in the grill. Basically "baking" them in the grill. Only Light one burner and put the chicken on the other side away from the direct heat. Rotate them closest to the heat back and the back to the front. At 160F internal temp Light another burner and brown slightly. This is where you might burn them so keep a close eye and don't leave them.. If your grill is large enough, light 2 burners right away. This technique is tried and true. And gives a nice "outdoors" flavor.
