I want a chicken, but dont know which one is right for me, i want two to five chickens depending on a coop. I want a chicken that cant really fly, and one that doesnt really lay alot of eggs. I also want a chicken coop, that is small and not really big with fenced in. Can anyone find a website to know how much coops cost, and how how much chickens cost. I want something with free shipping, please post a link. Im lookin with my price range, for $200 all together. -Thank you

  1. How about Light Sussex they are a more traditional breed they look nice ( mostly white with black feathers) they don'y lay as much as hybrid varieties and are not very expensive if you know where to buy. You are best to get them at point of lay. Try looking into farming magazines / papers in your local area I live in Scotland and there are quite often poultry sales at the local farmers market which sell lots of chicken breeds, housing, equipment and cage birds everything is relitivly cheap and good quality you can easily buy a couple of chickens for £18 and a triangular chicken coup for £50.
  2. Well if you're in the US, go to a county fair. I just went to mine last week and there were people their selling chickens and coops. I saw chickens, they were like $30 for a pair, and they had many varieties. GL!
  3. Have you considered Silkies. They're small, are considered to be an ornamental breed, & typically go broody at the drop of a hat. Not only that, but they tend to be very friendly & usually get along with other animals really well (although that can be different depending on the bird). Coops & runs can be expensive or they can be extremely cheap (if you reuse materials). You might want to check out Feathersite for a list of different chicken breeds along with pictures: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKPoultryPage.html#Chickens There's also a page with coop info: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKPoultrySites.html#coops
