What meat goes best with a Cheesy Potato Casserole?

Need a little culinary help. I'm making a Cheesy Potato Casserole for dinner. They are having chicken chili for lunch.. and so I don't repeat... Is there anything else that would go well with the casserole and veggies?

  1. Ham is the traditional choice with this sort of side dish
  2. Sausage -- bratwurst, kielbasa, etc. -- would be good. So would roasted pork or beef.
  3. Well honestly I love cheesy potato anything, and what I have found works best for a "Meat" for it would be pork of some kind. Heck even ham cubes mixed in with the potato's is awesome. Honestly I would go with the ham cubes easy to find in the grocery store and there are many different sizes to choose from too( I always go with the medium cubes). Hope that helps some!
  4. IMO pork goes best with that side dish.
  5. you can serve what ever meat you want. While it is true that usually ham is paired with cheesy potatoes, there are NO rules. You can serve what ever meat you want or have.
  6. A nice steak or even Salisbury Steak would go great with it. Hope that helps.
  7. When ever I think about a cheesy potato casserole I think of pork chops...My mom use to even make a scalloped potato casserole and brown the cops and then lay on top of the casserole and bake altogether...
