Chook Me!

What is the best type of beer to use for beer can chicken?

I am looking for something that will give it an extra coolness factor such as using Blue Moon and plugging the neck with oranges.

  1. I think you answered your own question.... that sounds yummy!!!
  2. bud
  3. try mountain dew.....Sounds weird....But beats beer hands down
  4. Recipes Ive seen never specify. Your idea is a good one tho. What about Tequiza?
  5. Your idea sounds great so go with it... the reason why most beer batters DONT give a specific beer is because you are suppost to use the flavor YOU like... Everyone likes their own beer so use what you like... plus its your creation/meal... make it personal and you cant go wrong ♥
  6. Blue Moon is fine, but I also recommend "Lowenbrau", "Michelob" or even "Corona" with Lemon Pepper! yummy! 21st Century Man
  7. i dunno, but i bough just a regular 24 ounce can of Millers genuine draft and hope it does the trick. i plan on marinating the chicken in the beer and some herbs and garlic, then roast it in my rotisserie.
  8. from what i have seen on cooking shows they used Budweiser or Busch
  9. I normally take a small onion and a small green pepper.... I cut the top off of the green pepper, then stuff the small onion (peeled) inside the green pepper. Then stuff the whole thing in the chicken... Then I stand it up on top of a budweiser. The beer will steam the onion and pepper, which will flavor the entire chicken very good.
  10. It depends on the flavors you want in your chicken. Blue Moon with some oranges sounds awesome! I use New Glarus "Spotted Cow" with oranges, it's great but I'm going to give the Blue Moon a try. I know that Corona with a lime plug works well as does the traditional options like Millier Lite. Hacker-Schorr with a lemon is a mighty fine choice as well, it's also the traditional substitute for cooking recipies using beer. Email me with how your Blue Moon chicken was!
  11. Yuengling Lager....Yum!
  12. Cave Creek pepper beer with lime quarters placed in the beer. Yummy!!!
